Troop 3000 will be working on the Exploration Merit Badge by camping at Ink's Lake State Park and visiting Longhorn Caverns.
As part of the merit badge, scouts will plan the complete campout (including timing, packing lists, etc), but we do need to buy tickets ahead for the caving tour. There are two options:
Option 1: Walking Tour. Follow a developed path along an ancient underground riverbed. Visit room after room of amazing geologic wonders. Hear the Texas-sized stories of the people who were shaped by—and helped shape—this national natural landmark. $25 + Campout Costs: $70 total.
Option 2: Wild Caving Tour. See Longhorn Cavern as it existed before modern lights and pathways. Enjoy a primitive caving adventure through the undeveloped lower level of the cavern. Certain physical requirements apply. Safety gear provided. Tour includes a "Wild Cave Tour Finisher" t-shirt. $110 + Campout costs: $155 total. A parent volunteer must accompany the scouts on this tour. If a willing parent does not register, all scouts will do the walking tour.
These tours fill up quickly. Registration will close 8.20.23, and you must make a selection for which tour you would like to attend.
